Does anyone ever feel like their name doesn’t suit them? I’m going through that phase again but also this would be like my fourth time changing my name but I just feel like no name actually SUITS me, does that make sense?

a cis guy told me everyone feels like that but idk. I think it's normal to feel like there's so much more to you than what can be pinned down to a name, but your name should be something you're comfortable with.

I genuinely think it's extremely rare to find a name that "feels like you" within a short period of time. Cis people identify so strongly with their names because they've used those names their entire lives. If i were you i'd just pick a name that you like without worrying about whether it feels like "you", and you'll grow into it with time :)

Not saying names aren’t significant to identity, but the assumption names have to fit you as a person forever isn’t realistic. You change and grow as a person. Names do not. So if you want to change it forever as you grow you do you, but that’s not really entirely the point of names, ya know? Names don’t have to have some super signifiant meaning to you as a person, they just have to be…you

And on that note I went by Gus for 2 years (short for asparagus) to help my nonbinary friend cope with the self imposed weight of significance around gender identity and name conventions. So there’s that
