yall are all missing the point, bisexual people are oppressed for being queer, duh. they do not experience separate oppression because they like multiple genders

So they’re oppressed for being bisexual

yeah but not SPECIFICALLY for being bisexual. it’s just because they’re queer. like how do i need to make this point more clear to you omfg

The same can be said about all other queer sexualities

Being bisexual, IS being queer though, at this point you’re just trying to argue semantics

a lot of discourse i’ve seen on here talks about how bisexual people face extra prejudice when they don’t, queer no queer sexuality faces extra oppression

it’s not “extra” oppression, but there are oppressive dynamics that are uniquely faced by bisexuals. this is basic intersectionality actually… marginalized groups experience oppression differently even if the power structure can be attributed to a larger superstructure. even “queer” is too general, cis queer people experience oppression very differently than trans queer people. that’s why they’re distinguished. the ways lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals experience queerphobia are different.

you apparently don’t because you said “bisexuals aren’t oppressed for being specifically bisexual”, which they are. and is what my comment explained.

tough talk coming from someone who can’t tell the difference between “for being bisexual” and “for being specifically bisexual”

no?? how does being trans have to do with bisexuality

they are oppressed for being specifically bisexual. that’s why i said. that’s basic fucking intersectional theory. analogizing queer oppression to race is overdone and often uncalled for, but lets see if this helps you: people of color (queer people) experience racism (queerphobia), however different races have different experiences of oppression even if that oppression can be broadly described as “racism”. black people are oppressed *specifically* for being black, that is anti-blackness.

bisexual people are oppressed *specifically* for being bisexual, that is biphobia. lesbians are oppressed *specifically* for being lesbians, that is lesbophobia. trans women are oppressed *specifically* for being trans women, that is transmisogyny. black women are oppressed for being black women, that is misogynoir. black trans women are oppressed *specifically* for being black trans women, that is transmisoynoir. vocabulary exists to talk about specific types of marginalization and oppression.

let me see if this makes sense to you: biracial people are not oppressed for being biracial. they are oppressed because they are partially non-white

i feel like you’re still just not clocking that i’m just trying to say they don’t experience it differently, they just don’t experience more of it. like that’s the whole point. full stop.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone saying they receive extra oppression though? So I don’t get the point of making this argument when it seems we’re all in agreement

i have fr seen people on here and in other (chronically) online spaces talk about how bisexuals are misunderstood and have it harder than lesbians or gay men. the post rlly wasn’t that deep it was just about a few posts i saw that i found rlly annoying

not saying they can’t be misunderstood to be clear, just that with the context of the second part is frustrating

yall r just choosing to ignore my actual point and choose to believe that i think bi people(literally me) are the same as straight people even when i have so thoroughly explained that im just saying they don’t experience extra oppression for being bisexual. obviously oppression effects different people differently, but bisexuals are not treated worse. i’m done talking about this tho yall r annoying

I agree actually the oppression bi people face is connected to their perceived “gayness” The bigotry is inextricable from them being considered “gay” or “confused” its not a separate oppression specific to bi people

the perceived gayness that comes as a result of being bisexual
