
from what the person said, it's because the old flag doesn't directly acknowledge diverse/POC experiences while the new one does (see below). they took not liking the look of the new flag (and not wanting to use it for myself) as racism because of that. which is dumb as hell considering how the point of the flag is to supplement rather than replace, i.e. using either is valid and supported by the creator of the new flag. it's taking sides when the creator exolicitly didn't want that.
