No political party is your ally. The system is broken, full stop.

I'm not sure any party is anyone's ally ... there's something else going on

Plenty of people in the party who are supportive as well; Dems definitely could be better but if you don’t want Trump to have full power I’d advise against posting things like this

To be fahair (cause I’m glass half full lol) they aren’t your enemy either. They aren’t actively fighting to get rid of your rights (like a lot of republicans).

Parties are just collections of interests. It’s highly unlikely a political party will perfectly match your ideal positions and their relative importance weights. Just make the highest value margins votes when it comes time.

Because people didn’t vote for enough dems in the senate it was deadlocked at 50-50 with 2 being corporate sellouts that didn’t reflect the rest of the party. Even so, for gay rights in specific Biden codified gay marriage which I think is a fine protection and I’m very thankful he got that passed. There’s plenty more he did as well which you probably aren’t aware about

To add on: because it was 50-50, that meant they had to get EVERY dem to support something which oftentimes was hard to do, even so they were able to pass a lot for what they had

ALSO in the senate there’s a rule that non-budget legislation has to get 60 votes to pass, which unfortunately wasn’t plausible for a lot of the legislation introduced due to the 50-50 majority; you can’t blame dems for that

Yeahhh these types of posts are the things that aided in trump winning the last election. Anyone in the world was a better alternative than him and people couldn’t get off their high horse and vote blue so we could keep a fascist who is destroying this country and the broader world faster than we even realize out of office. I can’t forgive non voters like I can’t forgive red voters and I’m not sorry 🤷🏾‍♀️

if only we had a workers party ran by and for the people instead of two corporate parties ran by and for corporations

Same, friend. Pedos are in power rn because so many people didn’t vote out of some weird protest urge.

Mhm. It just wasn’t the election to protest vote/not vote and people just couldn’t pull their head out their ass. Now look where that got us. On behalf of all the people whose lives have genuinely been ruined/dead people that would still be very much be alive if Rump wasn’t in office, I just can’t forgive them. Sorry not sorry.

they aren’t separable from republicans; the insistence that critiquing the democratic party turns into controlled opposition is fedposting bullshit. put the foreign policy in a perpetual dialectic with the domestic policy and then you’ll realize that american politicians are the enemy

the DSA works with the democratic party and has no interest in being independent from the democratic party. that’s why they keep running democrat candidates.

I’m in DSA and we have factions that want to be independent. It’s just a bit of a hard decision logistically

my point is more that the organization as a whole is invested in the democratic party. there are other socialist organizations like ISG and the RCA that run independent of the democratic party

idk why ppl are downvoting u this is true

it’s true only because “allies” are mostly cosmetic tonal and don’t actually understand what queer liberation means. all democrats are grifters

Anonymous replying to -> #18 5w

if they cared about queer liberation they’d care about the two-spirit people killed and oppressed by this genocidal settler colony. wdym “the party is but not the people in it” literally what are yall talking it. “allies” that bend over backwards for donors who fantasize about wiping out poor people really renders the word meaningless.

i mean, my mom identifies as a democrat and she’s like the most supportive person in my life about my identity, she probably understands what it’s like to be trans and gay more than most people who call themselves allies bc she’s actually seen the hell it can be. i don’t agree with the democratic party as a whole but many of the members ARE allies. not everybody in one party is a monolith. and just bc someone is in a party doesnt mean they agree with every single belief that party holds
