Harry potter was my childhood, and it was a special interest of mine in my early teen years. That being said, I am choosing to leave it in the past. My community comes first

Yes this is so far and I agree honestly what I do whenever I miss Harry Potter is read Harry Potter fanfic it gives the bitch no money a lot of the authors are LGBTQ and half the time there’s better world building and a more developed wizarding culture and magic system plus you can read pretty much any trope or plot you like I personally like archive of our own and if any of yall need a crash course of how to work the site lemme know

While I get the general hatred of her I also get that it was a huge part of people’s lives and fanfic is a less harmful way to get that nostalgia

If fanfic is tagged with HP tags or references characters in the IP- you are still driving engagement that affects the valuation of HP and JKR's projects.

I seriously doubt the impact of such a thing changes the engagement with JKR’s actual IP in a statistically significant way. There’s obviously no direct monetary connection

At one point, one of the people arguing on here admitted it was just the principle of it 😭 They know logically that fanfic, pirating, and thrifting doesn’t actually support her. They just want to argue morals

Yeah, and I see where they’re coming from. Sometimes I think we as a community start virtue-signaling each other out of existence because we all feel so trapped these days. We can’t actually convince the truly malicious people to make ANY change for the better, so we pick at each other to see if we can make even a little change for the “better” within our own community on things that’d usually be non-issues

Part of me thinks that reading Hp fanfic is contributing to what she said about thinking anyone who interacts with her stories supports her, but also I’m pretty sure Draco x Harry a/b/o is what she meant

Yeah I’m saying that I’m pretty sure Rowling wouldn’t see that as support to her ideas
