Me whenever my parents try and make me watch their 80’s movies that I KNOW are going to be horribly sexist, almost certainly racist/homophobic/transphobic, and disgustingly nationalistic. Like NO I DONT WANT TO WATCH A MOVIE WHERE ANOTHER WHITE MAN ABUSES HIS GIRLFRIEND AND DEEPTHROATS AMERICA’S DICK HOLY SHIT
I hate it because the whole plot is the white colonizers are bad but there are the good colonizers who sympathize with the natives (whatever their names are) and the whole avatars thing is giving ferishizing indigenous people because why did they make all the blue people sexy? Like I feel like if they didn’t make them sexy and naked then people wouldn’t sympathize with them (plus idc what anyone says I think James cameron movies suck ass)
omg no I don't mean misogyny is inevitable in anime! I knows there's so many that are really great and meaningful. and ofc you find misogyny in a lot of American shows and animated series, but I don't recommended those as much lol but I find that a lot of the anime's I've personally experienced have women drawn as overtly sexually and constantly objectified again I do not believe this is inherent it's just something that seems common (also I never said anything about racism)
There are a lot of really great anime out there that don’t sexualize women or minors, however if you look at the catalogue of the most popular anime, 50% of the show is toxic masculinity, incel-oriented, and contains overly sexualized women (one piece, dragon ball, any isekai anime for crying out loud that genre is fucked up ands it’s so popular) no this isn’t particularly a dig specifically against anime, since many western shows have the same problems, but just that anime is the topic at hand
Well you can watch the movie with your ears and all you hear is everyone being a shitty human. It doesn’t matter that the point of the film is to criticize war and discrimination, but queer people are discriminated against irl they don’t need to watch a movie to understand how fucked it is that’s for straight people to learn
