I can understand why not thinking trans man can be lesbians can be confusing, especially if you don't move past the word "man", however, there is a difference between a trans man and a cis man and that difference is rooted in being a female. Because trans men can live as a woman/girl for so long, they can have a really deep connection to lesbianhood that cis men don't have. When transitioning, trans men can still have that sapphic connection and continue to embrace that.

the only reason they were “historically included” is because societally they were not viewed as men. this does not attach them to lesbianism, as lesbians are not men/cannot be attracted to men

then how tf do you explain how they were integrated into lesbian community and culture at the time if they “were not viewed as men” but knew they were men? trans men and transmascs have always been a part of lesbian history and they will continue to be so

yet these same men helped build the lesbian community. you also gotta understand that transmasc is an umbrella term. transmasc and trans man can mean one in the same to some trans people. identifying as a man does not exclude you from being transmasc.

they often overlap, yes, but they are not inherently the same thing all the time. i know plenty of transmasc lesbians. trans men cannot be lesbians. it is invalidating to both them and lesbians and if you think they CAN be lesbians, it tells me u don’t really see them as men

you’re looking at gender in a far too binary system and therefore trying to project that onto sexuality as well which just doesn’t work like that. a lot of trans men lesbians do not identify as men in the same way a cis man would.

yeah they can. i have met several trans women who connect more with the label of gay man than straight woman because it gives context to their past and history. it’s just not talked about as much in transfem spaces

when using labels it's really easy to trap yourself into a box where anything outside of that is wrong. Trans man has a large umbrella of different ways they can present themselves and see themselves. Transness already breaks away from the norms of the cis society and therefore expecting them to perform masculinity and sexuality the same way cis men do is done in bad faith and limits the best part about queerness

the best part of queerness is how messy it is. it is so many different things and forcing each person to live in their boxes goes against the point of queerness, which was to not live in the boxes that were assigned by society and embrace that.
