Okay yall, I listened to it a second time and I will say it def grew on me a bit more. Do I still think it’s a bit mid and they could have done a lot more? Yes. I think my main issue with it is it’s giving US pop, not k-pop, so it doesn’t sound like them
Idk yall… I really wanted to like this album but there’s just something that’s just not right

Idk why people are expecting a kpop sound from them, they’ve been bigger than the industry since 2017/2018 and have been experimenting since- if u really want to hear their musicality they released a lot of individual music these last 3 years

Like, I think people (at least me) had high expectations, so the negative reviews seem sooo loud for this album because they could do so much better

I mean… they’re kpop?? This album was supposed to go back to their Korean roots, which imo it does not execute very well. I’ve been following them for like 10 years now so I don’t really need a lesson in their discography

I understand that and that’s not what I meant. I’m saying that they haven’t been limiting themselves to a “kpop sound” for years, their music is simply in Korean and they def did that with the ARIRANG sample in body to body- trying to blend all of their roots (old sound, Korean folk song sample)

Ah I see what you mean. I will agree that body to body does a good job at that, but I was just expecting that throughout the whole album is all
