As a die hard bts fan. Is this a safe place to say that I absolutely HATE butter and dynamite … Like it was such a downgrade in the music they made

valid if it’s not you’re style at all! but i’m the complete opposite from you. i LOVED these songs, especially in a time where lots of people needed that upbeat, fun, boost. i don’t listen to them much now. but when they released, i was all over those songs lol

I understand that it’s different from their usual sounds and it can feel less “them” because they were (extremely transparently) not involved in the writing process but it was just a you had to be there moment and I think the intent behind releasing them is so sweet and genuine

i personally love the english trio in the context of fun lighthearted music during and coming out of a global pandemic, especially permission to dance, i adore that song. but, i get not really liking them when compared to the lyrical depth that they normally have in their music. i know namjoon himself doesnt love how dynamite impacted peoples perception of them, especially in western spaces.

The lighthearted and fun songs helped me mentally when I was struggling so badly during COVID. I really needed to feel that joy at that time, and those songs did that, which was the whole intention by BTS behind them

i’ve always seen it in the way that they were designed to reach a widespread, universal audience and be appealing to crowds that aren’t bts’s typical listeners. especially with them being in english, i feel they were created to be popular, not necessarily carry depth and intention to the same degree of their other music. so i appreciate that the songs fulfilled this purpose, but i dont listen to them since it doesn’t align with what i love about the rest of bts’s discography. but they’re catchy!

they’re so overplayed and don’t really touch the art bts makes.

it’s not that i hated it, it’s just the fact that it was overplayed. like i used to love it but now i can’t listen to it or enjoy listening to it more than once because when it was released it was EVERYWHERE

I very much enjoyed all these takes!! Appreciate the input. To elaborate more. I think my biggest frustration was this kinda being the western breakthrough and the song being Dynamite. Like Black Swan deserved the attention. But I do agree in the moment they were cute songs. My fingers are just crossed they don't add them on the setlist for the new tour 😭😭

Overplayed where? Cause they struggle getting radio play and they don’t buy into playlisting or ads. Just curious where you heard it so much that it was overplayed?

where i’m from it was played everywhere. it was like i couldn’t escape it. it might not have been played often where everyone was at but for me it was, sorry :/

Agreed. Same for me!! Like I feel like I heard it everywhere. And it was the only song getting recognition. When I wanted Life Goes On to get the attention

Black Swan deserved everything! But so did Life Goes On and it did get the #1 on Billboard, being a Korean song that was really groundbreaking.

Agreed!! I also think it’s a result of the bigger picture of the western industry constantly trying to force them to buy into them by making manufactured ENGLISH songs and only properly promoting THOSE songs

completely agree that other bts songs deserved that attention !! and it will never add up to the artistry that bts do on the daily with their music. but, to not have these songs played on the tour, is almost gonna be impossible lol. every artist plays their biggest hits. and dynamite and butter were those hits for them.

This is old information, but I’m not sure everyone is really clear on how successful those songs actually were for them. That success guaranteed them a future of creative freedom with more success, that they probably would not have had otherwise. Are they the “best” BTS songs? Depends on your definition of “best” I suppose.

totally agree with u on this !! do i think they are their best ?? no. but it’s subjective and to each their own. but i also wouldn’t not want them on the tour set list !! this was a huge opportunity and opening for bts to be recognized and to try new things. the songs represent that to them, so i definitely hope we get them on tour (which im sure they will)
