People like to talk about how SM created kpop as it is today but he literally talked about seeing Michael Jackson everywhere when he lived in LA and so he created SM wanted to make a Korean version of that

and no shade to any member of NewJeans themselves I love them but let’s not act like their producers didn’t get their sound from PinkPanthress and the already popularized hyperpop scene- it just wasn’t seen in a setting like kpop yet
