They sound like the kind of people who would lose their minds over an Israeli Jew eating falafel despite over half of Israeli Jews being Mizrahi. To them, Jews are from nowhere and belong nowhere so a country that is mostly Jews can’t POSSIBLY have any REAL connection to food.

I mean there is no such thing as white culture, there are white people, but what unifies white people isn’t culture, it’s being part of the in group.

Yes they are speaking the cultural language of another group. Plenty of non Chinese speak the Chinese language too, but it’s still part of Chinese culture.

They are part of an in group because of shared culture. White refers to Europeans. Europeans have various cultures. Same as Jews. There is no one Jewish culture.

There is no collective white culture, or no positive one anyway, although there are many beautiful cultures made up of white people that is very different

I mean obviously Israeli Jews eat falafel but if someone described falafel as an “Israeli cultural food” that’d be weird, that’s be like calling tacos an “American cultural food” just because there are Americans descended from cultures where that is a cultural food But idk how someone could make any kind of argument about Bamba, if it’s not an Israeli snack then what is it??

I’m not familiar with this, what is Israeli couscous and how is it different from normal couscous?

Israeli couscous is a pasta technically, like larger pellets shaped. Normal couscous I’m not really sure what it is but it is smaller

Jews in the Levant had been making falafel for centuries, it is a Jewish food as well just like shakshuka is shared across many countries

Yes, Jews in the same areas that Muslims and Christians make falafel also make falafel, but Jewish ≠ Israeli

I don’t think there is a person on this planet that claims falafel is Jewish. That being said there are things like sabich that you would get at a falafel shop that originated in Jewish culture. Also falafel is a cultural food all over the Mediterranean with variations that differ between each country. There most definitely is a distinct Israeli falafel culture in how it’s served, what condiments it comes with etc compared to Greece or lebenon, Egypt, etc.
