Read the rest of the article, it’s not that more people are swinging far right but a realignment of the far right in the likud, religious Zionism and Otzma Yehudit parties. Mostly votes from the religious Zionism parties that oppose integration through conscription and withdraw from heradi benefit programs. Recent poling still shows a steady shift towards center left parties.

The Israelis are tired of having their policy dictated by PR. Ben Gvir does the shit he thinks will make Israel better and securely in the hands of Jews as the Haredi and Arab population quickly outpace the rest. American Jews have the privilege to denounce Ben Gvir. Instead of being repulsed, you have to ask why Israelis are moving farther right. And then you’ll understand why they care less and less about optics

Correct me if I’m wrong but I referring to Ben Gvir in particular he’s gaining popularity with Othman Yehudit picking up seats. The article makes it seem like he’s unique because the same can’t be said for Smotrich & Religious Zionism party for the reason you gave & then some.

Othman yehudit is his party. They are gaining votes from from far right anti establishment voters disnenfeanchized by Likud and religious zionisms new conscription laws that no longer exempts heradi from mandatory service.

These three parties along with a few others form the coalition. That gives bibi the majority in the Knesset. However not all the disenfranchised voters are shifting further right and while Ben gvirs khanist party has gained seats the overall coalition is down and their hold on the majority is no longer guaranteed.

Yeah I know that’s his party that’s why I used it picking up seats as an example. Yeah I’m aware because from my understanding his party was the only one really gaining seats as far as the coalition is concerned.

I’m not defending Ben Gvir, but to just condemn without understanding the why just continues pushing people more to the right

I understand why and I am still repulsed. It’s not a privilege to denounce leaders that are violent ethnonationalists

It’s a privilege for an American Jew that has hardly any actual stakes in Israeli politics to feel they actually have a say in how to govern a country they don’t live in

Denouncing a singular extremist leader isn’t having a say in how a country is run…. Are non americans not allowed to denounce trump?
