Thoughts on this? I like his point that Zionism is more accurately described as Ashkenazi supremacy and “mizrahi” had to be invented so that they could assimilate into Israeli society. Which often manifests a a lot of internalized self hatred

Mizrahis have never considered themselves Arab, a lot of middle eastern minorities don’t consider themselves Arab. My family is mizrahi from Morocco and we’re super proud of it, we even have family still living there and the family living there doesn’t consider themselves Arabs. Is it Jewish supremacy? Maybe. But I wouldn’t say it’s Ashkenazi supremacy, the idea that Ashkenazis are better was a thing for like 15 years but nowadays the communities are so so integrated

Are you talking about Arab culture/language or Arab ancestry? I feel like that’s saying black Americans don’t face systemic racism here bc a lot of black Americans are well integrated into diverse communities. The country was literally built on an explicitly European project that was extremely racist & exclusionary to all the native ppl surrounding & in their country. That was only a couple decades ago where the racism was more explicit. But that doesn’t change the structuring of the society

Every society was racist, sexist, homophobic, etc back then. Even today majority of countries are pretty bad on women’s rights. So because all these societies were built on racism does that mean itll just never go away? Seems like a pessimistic mindset and seems like ur tryna use logic to explain the dynamic rather than looking at the country for what it is

No. But when the same economic foundation is still in place then it will continue to extract profit from people pitted against one another. Race was just used to dismantle the working class and continues to do so. The material conditions have to change in order for class hierarchies, like race, to be dismantled Actually I have an extremely optimistic perspective that knows that societies always improve on themselves and it will eventually evolve into a higher system

And what point exactly does it make for your argument that a name was coined to categorize a group of people, something that happens to literally every group of people on earth?
