Does anyone else think Hebrew should remain a liturgical language and should only be used to pray/study Torah? Trying to learn Yiddish and ladino has been fun

Kinda impossible to put that toothpaste back in the tube, given that there are millions of people who speak Hebrew as their native language.

It wasn’t necessarily a pure liturgical language. It wasn’t a main language of any Jewish community, but it was almost certainly spoken, especially for trade among Jewish communities. That said I think it’s beautiful that I can go to a Jew of any country and speak with them.

No, but I don’t think it should’ve superseded Ladino, Yiddish, and other Jewish languages

I don’t see how Modern Israeli Hebrew could be reasonably argued to be more important to Jewish culture than Ancient Hebrew, Sephardic Hebrew, Ashkenazi Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, Judeo-Arabic, or really any of the other Jewish languages that contain centuries more of Jewish cultural heritage
