We teach our children tribalism with high school rivalries and excessively competitive school sports competitions, and then we wonder why everyone falls into us vs them trap as adults.

this is, once again, the fault of the billionaires. those exact behaviors are thing that make someone “good” at business/finance/real estate, etc.

agreed. it's human nature. High school sports are product of it, not the cause.

Humans have always been “us versus them” forever and never in between. In a way, it makes sense because “if you aren’t supporting me with my ____ (survival, ideals, etc) then you are against me”.

Nurture vs nature, tribalism is natural to some degree but idk if it’s all the way to this degree

This idea can be seen in a lot of parts of history, you pick a side and can’t have a middle ground. If you weren’t agianst one thing, it was assumed you were for another thing. Kinda goes back to the red scare, where you ether were a communist or against communism, you couldn’t be in the middl

And for the OP post with highschool sports, I think it is improtant to show teens how teamwork is good for working towards a larger goal.
