That’s historically wrong. Native civilizations built large cities, irrigation systems, and complex agricultural societies long before Europeans arrived—Cahokia alone had tens of thousands of people. Also, horses were introduced by Europeans in the 1500s, so the “they’d still be riding horses hunting buffalo” point doesn’t even make sense historically. Different environments produce different technologies, not inferior civilizations.

You can by making it to that when these illegal immigrants can obtain work visa to contribute to the country while working to gain their citizenship so they can provide for their families. Immigrants help this country. They pay over 100 billion dollars in taxes on federal states and local levels while not even getting to see any of the benefits because they undocumented, help our labor force because they take jobs the american people are avoiding meaning they contribute around 400 billion

The best thing to do in this situation would be giving undocumented immigrants who don’t have prior violent offenses a pathway to citizenship so they can continue to provide the country with these benefits, while we can get the funding to make the pathways to citizenship more obtainable and affordable. Because at the end of the day no one wants to come here illegally because you can’t file for tax returns, get a loan for a house, no social security, medicare or medicaid.

Saying Native Americans were “given land and technology by actual Americans” ignores the historical record. Native nations already had complex societies, trade networks, agriculture, and governance long before European arrival. What actually happened was conquest, forced displacement, and treaties that were often broken. Reservations weren’t a gift—they were land that remained after most of their territory had already been taken.

upvote 9 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #20 2w

The idea that earlier immigrants all “came legally” is misleading because modern immigration laws barely existed until the late 1800s. For much of U.S. history, people simply arrived and settled. Laws restricting immigration were created later. So comparing today’s immigration system to how earlier immigrants came isn’t really an apples-to-apples comparison.

Keep in mind first time illegal border crossing is a misdemeanor, punishable by fines or 6 months in prison. Meanwhile we have a 34 count felon in office… make it make sense

Do you suggest the punishment should be a slap on the wrist and release them into our country. Then you just rearrest them for still being illegal in the country. Only way to make sure they don’t recommit the crime is send them back where they belong

They can belong in America, if they come in the correct way. But yes, until they do it the right way they don’t belong.

Maybe if it was easier for migrants to obtain citizenship they wouldn’t come here illegally. No one wants to come illegally there’s no point.

Heaven forbid you actually work for something you really want in life. That’s what is wrong with this country. Everyone wants a handout instead of earning what they have

So we’ll just ignore the fact that there are massive backlogs that make it nearly a decade to get citizenship in the immigration system that can be easily fixed with proper funding… and that it cost a lot of money for some. And the fact that we’re not offering nearly enough work visa and even took away protective statuses for refugees in 10 countries that have lived here for decades working and passing background checks every few years. I guess they’re just not working hard enough

and so many people who are here illegally work extremely hard and fill jobs no one else will. but made we’ve made it difficult, time consuming, an often expensive to “do it the right way”.

You know the US isn’t the only country they can migrate to right? Countries like China, Russia, UK, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Mexico also exist and have suitable lifestyles

No and yes. They weren’t treated good under obama either and mass deportation is always bad for the country. But trump is deporting people without due process, to third world countries that aren’t their own, more people have died in ice custody under trump than obamas 2 terms… do i need to keep going?

Have you ever tried putting yourself in someone else’s shoes? Imagine you’re trying to save yourself or your family from certain death

There’s a legal way for that too called Asylum and Refugee status! Maybe do some research instead of being an “empath” lol and you since America is so bad they should go to a different country anyway that would be more supportive of their needs. And if you wanna play the put yourself in someone else’s shoes, put yourself in the thousands of peoples shoes right before they died by an illegal immigrant.

dumbass argument. then put yourself in the shoes of someone who died at the hands of someone born in america. the number will be drastically bigger. immigrants are less likely to commit crimes

Not a dumb argument, if you get rid of all the illegal immigrants, there will be 1000 less deaths, less drugs, less money going to illegal that dont wanna work, and more of that can go to all the homeless Americans on the streets

they take jobs no one else will. they pay 10s of billions in taxes, etc. your argument is based on stereotypes. if you’re that worried about crime, you should be more worried about the people born here. if you’re worried about americans being raped so much then i hate to tell you this but a rapist is currently the head of the executive branch

How do they pay 10s of billions in taxes if they legally can’t get a job? We pay those 10s of billions when we purchase items. Or if they do get a job it’s taken out of their paycheck that’s why it’s so cheap to higher them which overall isn’t helping Americans. And do you have proof that he is a rapist I mean? Epstein Files came out he called the cops on Epstein so I mean what actual proof is out there saying he raped someone?

You just go back and forth blaming everything on the president but how do they actually benefit us? Please tell me I would like to know can someone tell me? I am 100% okay with immigrants coming legally. But having illegal immigrants is not good for any society look at Europe. Coming illegally is a crime. If you crossed over to Mexico illegally they deport you so why is it that America is the only country that can’t have these laws?

never heard of an ITIN? it’s an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. the IRS uses it for those ineligible to get an SSN

ofc it would be preferable to enter legally. but politicians have made it incredibly time consuming and often expensive. i have no issue if they’re caught at the border and deported. i do however have an issue with deporting people who have been living here for years working hard and living peacefully

straight from the IRS “If you're a resident alien, nonresident alien or their spouse or dependent, you can apply for an ITIN regardless of immigration status.” you’re correct in that it doesn’t give them a legal right to work, but through that they are able to file for taxes

they do it to show good faith, document work history, etc. and some states do allow ITIN holders to receive earned income tax credits

trump removed 10 countries that were from temporary protective status. This affected 1.3 million refugees because they can no longer seek asylum here.

Well TPS is temporary, nowhere does it state 1.3 million refugees have been kicked out and lost their rights. They’re battling it in court right now and the reason they’re trying to send them back is because their countries are safe again. Which I don’t see what the problem is they knew it was temporary? And they’re still battling it in court so they most likely will block termination.
