The South Korean government charges huge fines to restaurants and consumers who waste food, I personally think we need something like that here

shouldn’t even be labeled as “commie”, just a thoughtful person, which is really rare

Commies have a terrible record at actually feeding people.

It sucks because it should make sense but there would have to be a financial incentive for these places to go through the work of donating it.

It’s tough to feed people when the world sanctions you

If only Cuba spent more money on food and less money on the dictatorial military government

Our GDP is ~$32 trillion and we spend ~$1 trillion on military, leaving ~$31 trillion for other things Cuba’s GDP is ~$100 billion and spends ~$5 billion on military, leaving ~$95 billion for other things. We have much more money to go off of, they have very little and spend proportionally more on military anyways

And why do you think they do that? Cubans just don’t care about each other like Americans do?

All the leadership is concerned with is maintaining the military junta instead of feeding its starving people. And while the same problem exists on a smaller scale in America (minus the military junta), Cuba’s (extreme) poverty rate is around 90%, and the government is doing nothing about it

I’m just saying that corruption and poverty in general isn’t unique to Cuba or communist countries, we see it all over the globe and within the us to some degree

Can I get a source on Cuba spending $5B on their military? cuz the only thing I can find is WorldBank.org saying in 2018 Cuba spent $128M (2.9% of GDP) For comparison the same site says in 2024 USA spent $997B (3.4% of GDP) on military.

“On a smaller scale in America” like we don’t have the most military bases on the planet or spend billions of dollars on wars that aren’t our business while old people DoorDash to pay for cancer treatments. Open your fucking eyes bro
