If everyone is neurodivergent, then nobody is. Who the fuck is deciding what is “neurotypical” anyway? Fuck you, nobody has to follow your bullshit standards.

I like to think that every person is on some spectrum of autism in a way. Like, minor major and stuff in between

Fun fact of the day: Neurodivergent and neurotypical are not used in medical, academic, research, or legal fields. Other than recent publications using them to relate to younger audiences bc of its use in pop culture. These terms were literally invented by an ableist “advocacy” group that denies ADHD as a disability requiring accommodation, but instead a super power and a gift. The actual validated term is neurodiverse, coined by Judy Singer, who does wonderful work.

Remember when there was like 49134 sexualities we were supposed to acknowledge? This is just the new thing I get to ignore

Hell, even the adhd SUBREDDIT of all places banned the use of neurodivergent until recently for this exact reason. It’s meaningless, and harmful. But TikTok armchair psychologists revolted and the subreddit caved, so now it’s allowed. But before that their auto mod deleted it and redirected you to information about the bastardization of Judy Singer’s work

Hey so this is actually a super harmful mind set too! No, not everyone “is a little autistic”. This is extremely reductive to those who do have autism and are actively struggling, especially those struggling to build a support system that can help them get a diagnosis (kids of dismissive parents especially). People who don’t have autism can struggle too. It’s not a dichotomy. But those with autism DO need ADDITIONAL support

I think I should have said that everyone shows signs of autism. Not everyone is full blown autistic but people can show slight but not major signs of it

Kinda, psychological symptoms exist on a bell curve. there’s a standard deviation where everyone will experience some symptoms to some degree. It’s when you experience them too strongly, too often, not often enough, or too weakly that it becomes diagnostic criteria. So yeah, everyone benefits from having routines. And it’s stressful to be knocked off of your routine. But autistic people need them in order to maintain base operation and the stress they experience when knocked off is more severe

How tf am I being an asshole by pointing out that there were never thousands of sexualities being pushed down people’s throats by liberals? Acting like this was true is just some cringy boomer shit that’s better for Facebook than here
