Religion is dehumanizing, learn to grow some opinions, morals, and truths of your own. For once, let yourself dictate how you view things, treat others, and FEEL.

How do you define morality

Religion does not make the bad person. The bad person distorts their religion to justify their own evil. I am an atheist but it doesn’t take a religious person to recognize you are wrong, OP.

100% ALL religions are evil.

Only abrahamic ones and cult religions imo. Most others, like buddhism and hinduism, are generally okay and don’t have the history of genocide and violence the way that abrahamic ones do.

The intent to help people and avoid hurting people.

Can you specify why all Abrahamic religions are evil

You really don’t know about India’s caste system then, or how they used to burn the wife when the husband passed. I’m Indian btw.

This is how you respond when corrected, respectful and accepting that u were incorrect. This is such a respectable response and really says a lot about you as a person. Ik this is so random but honestly all people need to take a page out of your book and be humble and kind like this!

Quick question, as an atheist, how do you define evil?

Uh? Because that defines morality to me? Goodness towards everything. What defines morality to you?

So you are arguing for subjective morality. Thats very dangerous and I would warn against it. Morality must be objective to maintain goodness. So my question remains, what defines morality. Objectively.

I’m afraid I don’t really understand what you’re trying to say. It’s not that morality is subjective as much as our perceptions are inherently subjective, but you must operate within the information you have and believe. What exactly is wrong with that, to you?

I agree with that, but I am asking what defines morality. What makes killing wrong, for example? What makes your definition a universal truth?

Killing is wrong because it significantly harms someone and doesn’t really help anyone. Are you trying to ask why I think someone should act morally? That’s because it’s natural to want to be good, and also because we’re social and interdependent as a species. With medical exceptions, everyone is capable of compassion, sympathy, and care, so it’s built into our nature to want to help one another. ‘bc god says so’ is a weak af reason in my eyes, tbh.

Evil is the intention to do harm because it will satisfy you, without thinking or caring about who you are harming

And of course it is more complicated than I could describe in a single comment on here
