I have compassion for fellow humans that follow laws. I don’t have much compassion for people who break the law by coming here illegally. You look at every other nation and their immigration laws are stricter than that of what the US’ has been for the last 4 years. When you’re talking about US citizens I’m guessing you’re talking about Renee Good, who had dedicated the last few months of her life to impeding and interrupting ICE’s duties.
She was warned multiple times to leave the scene/area, but rather decided not to. She didn’t make a great decision. If you watch the video her front tires while pointed at the officer skidded as if she was accelerating. If you were a law enforcement officer and saw that happening, knowing you had to make a split second decision that could save your life, you would’ve done the same thing.
It doesn’t make a difference. His number of arrests by ICE were higher, and the funny thing is Homan was awarded the “Presidential Rank Award” for distinguished service by Obama, but yet Obama has completely flipped ranks about how ICE is operating, as if he wasn’t doing the exact same thing. If people chose to comply and follow the law, “police brutality” numbers would drop drastically.
obama did deport more people during his presidency, but his administration and ICE in his time very specifically focused on deporting people who were known national security risks. he also strengthened humanitarian protections and streamlined processes such as asylum seeking and the DACA program to help vulnerable people gain legal residence. trump is weakening or outright destroying humanitarian protections while sending his beefed-up ICE after anyone who looks like an immigrant
he also is using ICE as a tool of public terror in a way obama never did. ICE agents didn’t wear masks, patrol cities while bearing heavy arms, or randomly detain people from the streets. the goal of them doing this is to scare minority and immigrant populations regardless of their legal status
