
No. Because we spend our entire childhood learning the x and y axis on a flat piece of paper. You always have length and width. And then when you reach 3d levels of math, you add height by imagining it off the paper. Not everybody plays video games, but EVERYONE studies math at some point whether they want to or not, and x/y being flat is the intuitive standard.
Nah but when you look down at a piece of paper you are looking at a drawing meant to look like it’s in front of you, not flat on the ground. So when you translate that to the real world and look infront of you it would be y is up x is left and right, and then z is towards or away from you. Think about a drawing of a house.
