Yeah that stuffs TOTALLY fake. Businesses just run themselves and ppl magically appear. I’m just sittin here causally analyzing 7 figure budgets, ad spend, conversion funnels, crunching data on customer behavior, and customer acquisition costs for fun….you do realize someone still had to actually consumers or businesses (in B2B) to buy stuff ur “real majors or trades” make/need…
administrative/ desk jobs that are not directly involved with helping people or directly changing ppls lives. meeting after meeting discussing "goals and quarterly sales" that couldve been an email. people trying to look busy. bosses spending hours talking but not saying anything. not saying this is every non manual job, and i see the appeal in not wanting to work as hard. but office work just seems mostly redundant and like... 70% bullshit?
This reminds me of American Psycho where people just sat in their desk jobs to look busy and only cared about social hierarchy in the office, fashion, business cards and went on fancy dinners with “important” people. I’m not sure how accurate of a depiction it is of real life. Also, Patrick got his job and everything else because of his father, so it seems that he doesn’t put much effort into it. Also, these types of jobs seem likely to be replaced by AI first since they involve stats and data
I grew up in a family where everyone was strictly white collar and I can confirm this is not the case lol. They do actually do work. I have a bunch of engineers and business owners in my family and have never once heard someone mention fashion and business cards. The fancy work dinners are a real thing tho. My cousin often invites investors to fancy dinners because it impresses them. That part is true I guess 🤷♀️
Your desk job isn’t what US busn majors are even doing…the administration reception work is not what we went to school for…however I’m not gonna sit here and shit on those jobs because they respectively have vy essential important functions that help other higher roles function more efficiently and effectively. Discussions of numbers, goals, or quarterly sales (which varies slightly based on specific business function as well) cannot be sent over in an email.
People “trying to look busy” seems like your own interpretation of what we do which is false. I mean there are absolutely those individuals within office or even trade/stem major dynamics that don’t contribute as much to a collective team. But disregarding the entire efforts of others is a bit…of an underdeveloped naive thought. You say you have a degree so….lets use that degrees skill and be a bit more expansive in our thinking
