It’s their wedding not yours. You can just….leave?

or incorporate it in the wedding in a more subtle way

IMO doing it subtly is worse. Either go all out or don’t do it at all. I feel like having a classic white fancy wedding with some bullshit like Star Wars themed center pieces or wtv would look worse than an entire Star Wars themed party. Cause then it’s so random

Slay for you. Personally I wouldn’t make my wedding World War Two themed as a World War Two theme.

But maybe that would be more subtle is to actually honor my family heritage with photos in the back corner as I’m a heritage nerd

Why would you being black make you uncomfortable? POCs were seen as heroes! Noor Khan who was Indian was seen as a hero she was a hero

Yes Nazis did persecute black people but no idiot would throw a Nazi wedding except a Neo Nazi

I understand racism was happening deliberately in America but in other countries where World War Two was happening oppression wasn’t that common especially in France as black regiments received the highest honor

Just because they honored a group of soldiers doesn’t mean “oppression wasn’t that common”. No they weren’t the PRIMARY target of the Nazi regime but anti blackness and racism has always been, and remains to this day, the very widespread system of prejudice. OP or anyone is allowed to feel uncomfortable by that. WW2 is remembered most of the heinous acts and beliefs that caused it not the heroes who helped put it to its end. There is positive connotations to WAR

I said oppression wasn’t as heavily influenced in Europe as it was in the US. Also I know my god Nazi history and I did not say they were the primary but they were most definitely targeted! I never said she had to not be uncomfortable with it.

You literally said “why would being black male you uncomfortable?” Implying that they shouldn’t really be, at least from my pov. I never said you said those things or put words in your Mouth exactly but the way you phrased everything sounded like you were undermining oppression in France and trying to put a positive spin on ww2. Idk why you had to question any being uncomfortable with it in the first place

Because since I’m not black I didn’t understand at first till she explained it a bit but I was asking why she would be. I wasn’t saying no you should not be uncomfortable! I was saying there was less oppression in France because historically there was! That is all and of course there’s a positive spin on World War Two because for some people such as my family our families were heroes for fighting. Don’t assume everything just because you don’t understand the phrasing.
