I just leave if I’m waiting more than 10 min. My mood is already ruined and they clearly don’t respect my time

Good question, why are you waiting that long?

i have adhd and im one of those people. time just doesn’t go by the same way in our head. it’s really hard to keep friendships because people don’t understand it. i promise me and other people like that are trying. talk to them about it if it seems like a friendship dealbreaker

tbf some cultures do run like that where it’s a thing, talk to them about it if you think this could genuinely apply to them

insufferable is kinda dramatic, but again the point was if it applies. Being mad at people who dk your norms yet is also insufferable

I think respecting other people’s time is a VERY common human decency type of norm babes…

It's giving "I learned today that all cultures are good and there's no such thing as a bad culture." Some things are just inexcusable

LITERALLY my family is always chronically late bc it’s normal in my culture BUT i’m aware that this is still disrespectful? it’s giving they don’t like admitting when they’re wrong? pleaseee

Yeah that doesn’t excuse anything. I come from a south Asian culture where being late is very very normal. Just because it’s normalized, doesn’t mean it’s okay.

Perceiving time differently is literally a symptom of the disorder?

alarms and reminders exist.

You’ll never guess what someone with ADHD will forget to set, also because of their ADHD.

I have them on automatic and also have a real alarm clock as a backup which helps

having adhd can’t be an excuse for everything. Time management is extremely important, and if you can’t respect someone else’s time when being reminded multiple times that’s more than a mental disorder. I understand forgetting something, everyone does that. But seriously, when someone is patiently waiting for you to come outside, hurry it up???

Stop using your disorder as an excuse. If you know that it’s difficult for you to keep track of time, do something to change it. Start getting ready earlier, check the time very frequently, set timers for everything you have to do. There are several ways to solve this problem, you just choose to be ignorant

You’re right I choose to forget things. That makes total sense. I literally can’t always remember to eat or go to the bathroom or take my meds, even though these things affect me personally. But it must be an excuse to be ignorant of others when I also forget things that affect them. It’s not like I’m ATTENTION DEFICIT.

How do you forget to go to the bathroom...?

Where did I say you choose to forget things? I said don’t make it an excuse. If you forget to eat food often, set a reminder. If you know that you have a habit of forgetting certain things, set reminders. It’s okay to forget every now and then but if you constantly forget and you KNOW that you forget and you don’t make an effort to fix it, it’s your fault.
