The conservative government officials literally praise Hitler. Often. They hang flags with swastikas in their offices and talk about burning people. The kkk (who are basically nazis) follow this party. So, if you cling to conservatism and the Republican Party, I’m going to assume that you believe in what the leaders of your movement believe.
If you say you’re a liberal, people will assume you are strongly against racism, anti ICE, and pro choice. If you say you’re conservative, people will assume you’re pro life, pro ICE, and either racist, or you have no strong feelings about racism (which is just as bad). This is because these are the values held by the loudest people claiming these labels. So no, it’s not really wrong to assume that.
Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if more than 50% of voters were racist this past election. You don’t have to be out lynching black people every night for you to be a racist. The thing is, when you have politicians who idolise Hitler, when people vote for those politicians, it would be stupid of me not to assume they feel the same unless they can show me otherwise.
I mean it's a democracy and your elected officials are doing those things - how am I not to assume the ones who elected them don't agree? Your party is complacent with the rhetoric and says things like "oh well I don't agree with what he says on x issue" but he still said it and you're still going to vote for him smh
But I literally wouldn’t be surprised. I don’t see how that’s so absurd. I’m not saying 50% of people in America are in the Klan, but I don’t think it’s an absurd thing to say that most people in the world believe (to some degree) stereotypes about people of other races that may be somewhat harmful or hurtful to the people those stereotypes target.
