Aw idk, man - they’re not hurting anyone. Tbh, when I see adults who light up over Disney or other kid-centric things, I just think - maybe they didn’t get to have that joy growing up? (generally rough childhood, family couldn’t afford it, etc) I guess there’s something really tender and sweet to me about the idea of an adult finally getting to have that joy, even if it’s ‘late’ by conventional standards. It reminds me of my dad and how excited he gets about Star Wars. :) He’s the best.
Ah, makes sense! Thanks guys. Ig I just wish folks would lead with what Disney’s done wrong, instead of dragging the folks who are innocently enjoying it. 😭 I think another issue is that the line between being “obsessive” and “making it their whole personality” is subjective and vague - it sometimes ends up giving people cover to just be mean. And when asked why, they gesture toward Disney being bad (which, yeah…mega true.). It just seems like…friendly fire on people just trying to feel joy?
It’s not when they love it, it’s when it becomes an unhealthy obsession, spending thousands of dollars or like when I said swifties, the people who will defend her with their life on everything like they grew up with her. My grandma loves Olaf and that’s cute, she has a bunch of stuffies and decorations, but it’s not an unhealthy obsession yk?
The ones who will spend thousands of dollars going to 5+ of her concerts and owning everything Taylor swift. Their house has Taylor swift quotes all over, always posting about her, the ones who literally bawled over her engagement like it was their childhood best friend, get pissed when someone doesn’t like her, and defends all of her actions like they know her personally
