This girl is following in the footsteps of movies like “Gods not dead” these fictional narratives where Christian’s in America are “soooo oppressed” Bitch please. you’re not persecuted. Go ask the Christians simply living life in Asia or Africa, then come back to me about what you think persecution is. Regardless of your religion or faith. You shouldn’t have to be killed for it.

I always find it crazy how atheist don’t believe in God, some even hate him, but also seem to comment on religious things. My only question is how do you hate something you claim doesn’t exist?? You’ve never seen the air either but you know it’s there to inhale. Right.

OP is the one who brought up oppression. If you’re going after anyone for conflating oppression and difficulties go after OP.

Um no? You read oppression and equated it to difficulties. Within my experience of oppression it's way more than just a difficulty. Which is why I said if i genuinely thought that's all it was, my life would be easier. It's a very privileged assumption to make. Also, it's very rare at least in America to genuinely be an oppressed for specifically being a white Christian. The country was literally built by white Christians for white Christians.

upvote 22 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 4w

No incase you are confused. This isn't to say that white Christians cannot be oppressed at all and they have perfect lives. I said it's extremely rare they are being oppressed soley BECAUSE they are a white Christian. An example would be a white Christian women, would more likey face sexism and gender based discrimination before she would face discrimination for her race or religion.

Dude the girl was talking about difficulties. OP then started talking about oppression and I said it was ridiculous to claim that white Christians can’t experience difficulties bc of a lack of oppression.

Anonymous replying to -> #9 4w

No one is claiming that anyone is oppressed as a white Christian. I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to claim that white Christians do not go through difficulties in life bc they’re not oppressed, directly in response to OP’s obvious implication that the girl is talking about oppression when she’s talking about struggles in her life.

upvote -1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 4w

She wasn't talking about difficulties. She uses the word "suffer" and talks about how worldy people "thrive" it's very clear to me she's referring to how hard it is to stay Godly in a secular society. When reality it's not that hard because the world was again created to cater to white Christians, and blaming the devil instead of herself for falling into temptation. It's feigning oppression. This is called using my comprehensive analysis skills. I understand if that is something you lack.

upvote 10 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 4w

The difficulty in question is her not being able to resist temptation. She's blaming the fact that seeing worldy people thrive is causing her to "suffer." Given the context how else are we supposed to conclude that she is referring to some other struggle that isn't being a Godly person. The post is essentially saying: "Woe is me i'm a Christian and it's horrible to see seeing all the non Christians thrive and prosper"

upvote 13 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 4w

Extrapolating “oppression” from “suffering” is not “comprehensive analysis”. It is a strawman argument. I undertake that you refuse to admit that you’re wrong but at least just don’t respond them because this is embarrassing. Your argument against me is “I just got the vibes she meant oppression”. She is clearly not referring to “staying Godly in a secular society” but rather a lack of divine retribution. I’m not a Christian and it’s extremely clear to me. Maybe put those analysis skills to use

upvote -3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 4w

If anything you can maybe even equate it to jealousy. She wants her life to be better but feels as if her religion is holding her back. Without more context we don't know what else she would mean by "suffer." The Bible quote or whatever is her way of staying rooted in her faith and that the people who are thriving aren't the ones who are being Godly.

i don’t know any atheist that hates God. and we comment on religious things because most people were raised in a religion and that affects our whole lives. also religion and belief are powerful things, using them to spread hate is what we’re against!

upvote 33 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 4w

Sure. We don’t know what she means by suffering. So why are we jumping to conclusions of “oppression”. The Bible quote is her rationalization for immoral people living lives they seemingly don’t deserve. An age old question, and one that in literally no way implies “us white Christians are oppressed”

upvote -3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 4w

Well in my experience people tend to only use the word suffer when they are experiencing tragic circumstances. not used lightly. i don't think it's that unusual to jump to oppression, especially without added context. Even if we did have that context like lets say she is struggling financially. She's not struggling financially bc she's being tested by the Devil. It could be a classim issue or lack of responsibility when it comes to money.

Anonymous replying to -> #9 4w

People’s family members pass away. People get sick. People get injured. People lose their homes. This is exactly what my original comment is about. Assuming white Christians do not have the capacity to suffer because they’re not oppressed is genuinely sick, and this is coming from someone whose ancestors have been killed and oppressed by white Christians for centuries. Beyond that, why are we assuming that a religious person can only assume they’re being tested by the devil if the suffering

They are subjected to is related to oppression? Why are you trying to justify this logical leap when it makes absolutely no sense?

Anonymous replying to -> #8 4w

As someone who is religious, i've been around women like the one in the post my whole life. They believe that if they are a good enough Christian, they'll have a the perfect life. They treat prayers as wishes and have a very surface level understanding of faith. Grieving is still not the same as suffering. It's certainly not easy, but it's not the same. A big part of Christianity is having faith in God's plan, and to not compare yourself to others.

upvote 14 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 4w

Right. Which is why the girl provides that quote as a reminder that having faith in God’s plan is vital to Christian theology. The examples I’ve mentioned are all valid forms/causes of suffering, so this TikTok makes perfect sense without the assumption that suffering must refer to oppression. What are you arguing?

As an jew, its not that we hate. Personally i see Christians as a disease. They try so hard to “spread the gospel” and be heard by people why arent interested. It everywhere! I cant sit on a bench peacefully without being approached by someone with a bible! It happens once a week. I wish they would understand things from other opinions. Judaism is a closed practice.
