a lot of people are bringing up what she texted the guys afterwards so i wanna clarify: this is called a fawn response. it’s part of the fight or flight response. she even stated she was trying to be nice because she wanted to know what happened to her, and was still in denial about what happened- common after experiencing rape. it can take days, weeks, to realize what happened because rape is often depicted in one specific way.
what “nuance” is there? she went to that frat w someone she thought was a friend who then gave her drugs & forced her to keep taking them. then messaged a groupchat w 50 other men inviting them to “free pussy”. 7 total men then forced more drugs into her system and forced her into oral and vaginal sex
isnt the phrase “guilty until proven innocent”? why wouldnt you believe a woman who says she was raped? imagine if that jane doe was your sister, your mom, a close friend? youd feel very differently about the situation and demand people believe them. so why not now? why not this instance? why does it have to be “theres more to the story theres no way they actually did those things”? whys it have to be “its only an accusation theres no proof”?
why do you then think these men are innocent and deserve to have to be proven guilty? why would you prefer sitting here taking the side of 7 men who forced a woman into intercourse while inebriated instead of saying “actually this is all a possibility and those men are vile, disgusting, despicable human beings and should be rotting in jail”?
I have never said that the men are innocent. Really I think everyone involved in this is nasty. They deserve to be presumed innocent, and have their guilt proven in a court because that’s how the judicial system functions. If we base our society solely on the court of public opinion, how do you honestly think that would turn out? You honestly need to reconsider college if you do not understand the basic concepts of why our judicial system works the way it does.
You talk about me, not considering the possibility that they did it, which I have. But you cannot seem to face the possibility that the girl is retroactively, claiming rape for her own personal reasons. Not saying that’s what’s happening, but if we’re talking about possibilities.
Her saying she was raped and it legally qualifying as rape are two different things. Her son statement in 2024, made it sound consensual in every aspect. Also, Cornell did what they were supposed to. What do you expect them to do arrest them? They are a university not law-enforcement. And as far as I’ve seen, Cornell has not publicly stated what they were reprimanded for.
ok her first statement actually included her saying “i can say with 100% certainty i was raped”. secondly cornell shouldnt have let them off with fucking essays as if extra homework fixed the damage they did to her. cornell also shouldve let her receive her tuition back to transfer schools. cornell shouldve expelled all of those men and took those accusations to authorities just as she did. thirdly you dont go & make a fucking report if the actions done were with consent
That statement never reached the district attorney’s office. We can speculate as to why. And again the claim of rape does not mean it is legal legally rape. Cornell did not just give them essays. There were suspensions and expulsions, but again we do not know their exact reasoning behind their actions. Cornell acts as a business. She received some type of service from Cornell. It makes no sense for them to give her her money back because of a situation outside of their control.
Da has stated that he tried to speak with her after they made their conclusion that there was insufficient evidence, and she refused to speak with him. He cannot ethically go back and try to convince her to bring more charges forward if the case has been closed. He has also stated that the evidence brought forth in the civil suit is not evidence that was brought to them at the time so how is that on DA? Da didn’t sit on his ass her statement did not show that there was a lack of consent.
Maybe because she was being socially ostracized or maybe she wanted money through the civil lawsuit. Like I said before I’m not saying that’s the case, but until we have a trial, there is no way of knowing and I think people need to realize the guilt cannot just be assumed. The burden of proof is on the accuser.
Nothing was forced she said in the original campus report that the drugs and consumption was consensual, she simply did too much (not enough for incapacitation, which is NY law’s issue with consent) and then shit happened. Maybe don’t do a 3some that is trashy and immoral all around with every party.
no YOU need to look into the case more. yall love to act and sound smart and have no ounce of respect dignity or compassion. i’m speaking from personal experience many women tend to feel like it’s their fault when SA happens and down play it in the beginning. it’s not just me but practically every woman i know has had a similar experience where clarity can hit later on. this doesn’t make it unfair to the guys, they shouldn’t have been there and done that in the first place.
Let me understand you correctly you are saying you have seen where her story has changed and that makes sense to you? Also I’m not saying 100% she was not raped, but the current evidence that we have makes the accusation a little bit skepticism inducing. How can you be 100% sure that she was raped? Ultimately until this goes to court, and the evidence is examined thoroughly we won’t know.
we know she consented to TWO men, not seven, based on statements given. we know she took copious amounts of alcohol and ketamine, which immediately took away her ability to consent. we know from texts sent to chat she was not in that those guys invited more people for “free pussy”. we know when alcohol and ketamine mix, it sedates you and puts you out of your mind so you can’t make judgement calls. we know the other guys were aware enough to text their friends. what more do you need? 2+2 is 4
i’m not sure of your gender i’m going to assume though you aren’t a woman because many women have an opposing stance from you, i could be wrong. i’m not going to sit here and say you’re wrong because lawfully you’re right, but i really do want you to understand why women already have a notion that this was rape. 1/3 women in college get sexually assaulted, for every 1000 women in that category 310 get reported and 25 perpetrators get some sort of jail time. only 2.5% of sexual assault lead (1/2)
to jail time. 1/3 woman get SAed globally. many woman don’t report because they’re afraid or it won’t go anywhere, or when it does get reported there’s people out there that when they get a hold of the information use it against them and run their name through the mud. again i said before lawfully you’re right, but please dude like if you’re not a woman and you haven’t gone through something like this you truly don’t know the extent that people can go.
Regardless of how people personally feel about the situation, the fact is that everyone is claiming openly and posting about the men who allegedly did this. A trial needs to take place and allegations towards men should be taken just a serious because regardless of whether they are guilty or not, the allegation alone is life ruining. It’s not right that these men are being publicly executed metaphorically when they have not been given their day in court. Bad precedent.
then show me the nuance because you’re failing to argue it. what exactly about her statement in 2024 was consensual? because in the CBS article it was stated she was in denial about what happened when she texted him later on and felt she had to be nice to her aggressor in order to find out what happened. this is called a fawn response- it’s common in victims of SA.
“wonen do anything but self reflect” as if simply by being there and existing in that atmosphere meant she was allowed to be raped and seen as nothing more than an object to those men. offered up as nothing more than “free pussy” for those men. meant that she was no longer seen as a human who would then suffer lasting harm and pain from their actions while their lives never changed.
well since i’m just a dumb woman please tell me what i need to reflect on, because every single point you’ve made so far is null. being technically not found guilty of rape doesn’t mean rape didn’t happen. it’s called the burden of evidence for a reason. this happens ALL THE TIME, which is why only 8% of rapists are convicted. but you know. we’re all just dumb women here, so please tell me what nuance i’m missing since you still haven’t told me?
Talking about other people not understanding that distinction when I guarantee you don’t know more about it than “one is for money and one is for prison” is hilarious. The lawsuit, which is against Cornell for their handling of it the first time, has reopened the criminal case, too. No guarantees it goes anywhere, but there is substantial evidence that it was mishandled the first time
