I’d rather the person not respond at all until they are actually able to talk. God forbid

They did respond when they could? That shows they make time when they can for you

Yes I get that. What I mean is id rather no response for hours, days whatever have you and then whenever they have availability for more than one response. I mean that’s what I do, especially if it’s something that is going to be a long conversation. I’d rather be able to give my full attention to said conversation and person then shoot something quick half assed. If it’s a quick thing sure respond whenever but imo (god forbid) one should wait until they can actually talk instead of one response

This is why God created the phone call. If you want to get the full conversation out in one sitting, just ask if they have some time to chat. Otherwise, that conversation is happening asynchronously. Your expectations are unrealistic here, and a solution is easy.

If they don’t have time for a text convo, they probably don’t have time for a phone call and if they have time for a phone call, they probably have time for a text convo, no? It’s the same thing. And yes there are multiple solutions, I wasn’t coming here for one. Just a vent, it’s not that serious.

It’s more like the difference between emailing and texting someone. The medium indicates the urgency and time commitment. A text says “respond as you can” whereas a call says “be available to stay on topic for a bit”. What you want is a call.

YESSS thank you. real shit. not everyone’s phone is consistent, not everyone’s time is consistent, and sudden shit happens ALL THE TIME. if you’re are this obsessed with response time to the point where it’s degrading your relationships, you’re probably dependent and need therapy 🤷‍♀️
