if you call women “females” i automatically assume you’re a misogynist bc the term was only popularized on social media after we stood ten toes behind called “bitches”. it’s a term only used in retaliation and carries the negative connotations of the word it was exchanged for bc of that.
what #3 said. but if you REALLY need the grammar lesson too, here you go: “that is a female dog.” female is an adjective here. “that is a female.” female is an adjectival noun here and the context tells you that you’re talking about a dog. but if you hadn’t established that context, you’re essentially saying “that thing is a female”. now notice how a living animal became a thing? that’s kinda what calling women females is doing.
I understand the point but two things: 1. Calling a woman a “female” addresses them by their sex only. The word “female” makes no mention if this “female” you might be referring to is a human. Technically, “female” could be referring to, for example, a female animal, or a female bug. Therefore, it is dehumanizing 2. The term “female” has been used derogatorily in the past. That word carries a negative connotation and we MUST take that into consideration
Woman is a humanizing term females is not and the fact that yall refuse to understand that and every other reason we give as to why we don’t like it shows that you are simply incapable of being a decent human being It’s giving small dick energy It’s giving sad bitch syndrome It’s giving misogyny It truly is not that hard to just oh idk be a decent human being and stop calling people what they don’t want to be called
I am a gal myself. I do not see the word itself as problematic. You speak in contexts. Online maybe the word is mostly is used with negative connotations, sure. But I think it is highly based on a given case. It is also subjective. Lastly—in popular culture the distinction is also important bc of trans stuff—usually “woman” is sometimes used by trans people, while “female” remains denotation of those who are female at birth. Overall this discussion thread is v interesting imo! I wish we could—
Thank you! I really try to come to these discussions showing my point of view but not attacking anyone. I feel communication is very important, as well as looking at nuances. Because I feel this—among other questions—requires an approach that acknowledges that there might not be a definite answer.
