hey if you don’t vaccinate your children you shouldn’t be allowed to put them in public schools! do that shit on your own like you will when your kid gets sick since you’re so much better than the literal BEST DOCTORS IN THE WORLD

Agreed (with exceptions for those who are immunocompromised or unable to get vaccinated due to allergies to the vaccine itself)

some people are sending their children to public school for the same reason they don’t vaccinate their children… their funds only allow them to just barely survive. if it was that insane of a health risk then the best doctors in the world and the cdc would be pushing for legislation requiring these vaccinations be mandatory. if a parent legally has a right to choose then their decision either way is completely valid if they believe they are doing what is right for their child.

The only reason there would need to be a rule on it is if the amount of unvaccinated children exceeds 5% of the children in the school (to maintain herd immunity)

Ideally the system would function properly but corruption is exactly why this isn’t the case. The cdc has zero foundation for changing the advisory status of the hep B vaccine and the best doctors are appalled by the change as it takes away the choice for poor parents who WANT to protect their children.

Obviously op isn’t talking about parents who can’t get the vaccine for their children but willfully medically negligent parents being allowed to make choices from their children but they don’t get to put all other children at risk because of it.

just because they have the fundamental right to chose doesn’t mean it should be socially acceptable to not vaccinate your children and that is for their safety and everyone else’s children’s safety. we don’t need legislation to know right from wrong and knowingly subjecting your child to diseases that could literally KILL them should be considered neglect.

my boss chose not to vaccinate her youngest for legitimate reasons. her two eldest are. be easy when passing judgments, not knowing each and every individual circumstance of people.

what is her legitimate reason for leaving her children susceptible to viruses and diseases that are entirely preventable? and additionally putting others at risk of contracting and spreading those diseases because her children are unvaccinated? it’s a very selfish decision to make when it’s not just about you or your children it’s every person they come in contact with. (obviously excluding vaccines allergies duh)

i'm not going to disclose the reasons. it's not your business & i'm not sharing medical information. i'll reiterate what i said & i stand by. you're making a judgment that it was selfish, not even having all the facts, and asserting that judgment to every single person. it's a very limited way of thinking and these matters are complex, not black & white, as with everything.

If there are medical reasons which prevent them from being vaccinated, she should homeschool them or avoid them being exposed to other children. Keep them in a bubble if it’s that serious lol. But why put everyone else at risk because 2 kids have their own issues?

That’s not how that works. Not being vaccinated doesn’t spread the illness, if there is a flair up of the virus close by then unvaccinated children should be temporarily homeschooled for their own protection, but vaccines work with herd immunity (95%) and people will medical conditions where they can’t get vaccinated aren’t common enough to warrant them needing to stay home.

Some people are just allergic to things in vaccines (like egg is in a few so someone with an anaphylactic allergy could die from it but it’s not something they need to isolate for) or have different genetic conditions that make them high risk for complications from vaccines or maybe they are immunocompromised and have risk of actually contacting the disease from the vaccine (which puts everyone at risk and is a horrible idea to do)

So one or two unvaccinated kids won’t cause a problem, but when groups of people are unable to get access to vaccines for their children that are physically fit to get the vaccine or they are changing advisories for it? Now that’s harmful

And they’re still susceptible to diseases, which they could risk spreading to others all because they’re unvaccinated. They’ll be alright
