depression, PTSD, and other ACQUIRED mental health issues are not the same as being born neurodivergent. sorry but that is not the same as growing up your whole life with adhd or autism. you can treat/overcome those. you can’t cure the others

untrue lmao you can be dealing with depression from a very young age and never overcome it, people deal with cptsd well into adulthood aswell. this isn’t a hot take it’s just wrong information

hello?? u cant “cure” ptsd, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. u can take medication to help (just like with adhd??). ur prob a weird white special person who’s only personality trait is being oppressed bc ur “neurodivergent”

you can’t “cure” anxiety, bpd, or schizophrenia. but you can definitely cure acquired mental illnesses like ptsd and depression through therapy. it’s not a difference in brain chemistry like the others. it’s not in the same wheelhouse at all

Trauma to the point of ptsd or worse (cptsd, osdd, did) fundamentally changes your brain. Yes, it is different from having grown up with a fundamentally different brain than what society expects, but it is NOT “curable”. Possible to learn to live with by using healthy coping mechanisms? Absolutely. But curable? Absolutely not. I don’t understand how depression works in the brain well enough to argue against how much it’s acquired and how much it’s inherited, but I do know that most people with-

-it that are doing well simply learn to cope with it and lead a healthier lifestyle in order to prevent depressive episodes where possible, but it’s never truly “cured”. I’m also surprised you’re not counting anxiety as an acquired illness, from what I’ve seen it’s about as common for people to acquire various anxiety disorders as it is for others to acquire depression, though that’s more anecdotal

Brother I don’t know what you think the chemistry is but it’s certainly all biological. You have to really convince me mental health is genetic. Your environment can change all of your “brain chemistry”.
