Yeah they can very clearly be racist to other poc, and I don't see the point in saying they can't be racist to white people as well. Obviously the societal power aspect isn't there but I think saying everyone of a certain race should die or something has hot to be racist. I feel like there's different levels of racism. I get why framing it as a neutral/both sides issue can be ignorant but I don't think that means we have to say something that is clearly racist isn't racist.

Definitionally they can’t bc they are a minority they can discriminate against people but they cannot be racist bc racism (definitionally ) is a societal problem not an individual problem. Also if poc discriminate against other poc that is called colorism not racism. I’d like to state again poc can in fact be prejudice and act on that via discrimination but that cannot be categorized as racist bc they are the ones who were oppressed. They had no societal power.

Colorism is discrimination based on skin color usually within the same ethnic group. I believe a black person discriminating against an asian person would be racist, not colorist. And while I understand that racism is a systemic issue, but I think anyone discriminating by race is participating in that system even if it doesn't favor them.

I understand not wanting to frame racism as a both sides issue though. A black person being prejudiced toward a white person should not be equated to the systemic oppression black people have faced for centuries. But on a semantic level, I don't think what counts as racism and what doesn't needs to depend on the actual inequality in our society, as the definition should also cover theoretically possible scenarios.

An oppressive institution can also negatively affect the privileged group in niche scenarios. There are cases where men are disadvantaged that stem from patriarchy for example (the "who set that system up" cases).
