Downplaying the overlap between MAGA and Nazi Germany is straight up ignoring the integrity of what the U.S. was founded on

MAGA is not even remotely similar to Nazi Germany. And the U.S. was indeed founded on questionable integrity if we’re going there tbh.

Demonizing minorities to create division, throwing people into vans and sending them off to camps with no due process, fabricating crime statistics to militarize police, censoring opposing voices, promising to make the country “great again” and using nationalism to evoke disdain for foreign countries. I mean, did you watch any of Charlie Kirk’s funeral? That wasn’t a funeral, it was a rally.

According to your comment to 1- it’s fascist to have borders. It’s fascist to enforce rule of law. I’m not sure where you’re getting camps from but people here illegally don’t get due process, they have no legal ties to the us and are not supposed to be here so they are deported. Funding the police does not equal militarising the police. Both sides are censoring opposing voices it’s not anything new. The slogan and nationalism are not telling of fascism itself. I will say maga is populist but-

You lost me at illegal immigrants not deserving due process. How the fuck do you know they’re illegal without due process? You don’t. Get in the van.

There’s actually records of most of them as they enter the country. They’re supposed to appear for an asylum hearing and most of them don’t show up. This is a problem that was aggravated by Biden’s catch and release policy. And there are ways to check it’s called having papers

So how do you know if they skipped their Asylum hearing and don’t have their papers without due process? And you’ve got to be kidding yourself if you think “both sides are censoring opposing voices.” Biden never claimed that “lies” about him weren’t free speech.

I know people who work at the border- a lot of people don’t show up the the asylum hearings but if you don’t want to believe that then that’s really not my problem. We know because they literally don’t show up. And again, if you don’t want to believe censorship happens on both sides then that’s your problem I’m not going to sit here and do your research for you

That’s great. I never said I don’t believe that. I asked how authorities are supposed to know if someone skipped their hearings without due process? You know how police can check to see if you have a warrant out when they’re detaining you? Seems like that part is getting skipped.

There are digital records I think. From my understanding when people come over through non official points of entry they are usually picked up by ICE and under Biden they were given a stipend and phone and a court hearing date and it’s entered into a system so all parties know. Then they are released and disappear and don’t show for the date which results in a FTA charge. Since they are not citizens though and courts are backed up because of that they are deported.

Sorry, that’s no excuse to just kidnap people that authorities think MIGHT be an illegal immigrant. Like I keep saying, this information all still has to be verified. Sorry but it’s absurd to say citizenship is a requirement for due process. This is supposed to be the land of the free with liberty and justice for ALL. Not people born here by accident of birth.

The fact that you even had to look this up debunks your argument. It’s not about warrants. It’s about verifying the fact that they really are violating immigration laws.

For some reason it wouldn’t let me reply with the picture but warrants are not required for illegal immigrants. And yes land of the free for people who have legal status there’s a really easy way to fix that and it’s coming here legally and having a paper trail to protect you. If you want to visit a grade school you have to go in through the front office, check in and have a valid reason to be there or they don’t let you in. If you just come in through a side door you are escorted out

Oh my God, you are dense. It’s not about warrants or not. Having a warrant out for your arrest still does not excuse your right to due process. My point is you need due process to even figure out if the person is an illegal immigrant.

Not having papers is a violation of laws I don’t need a judge to tell me that. Legal immigrants get due process because they are allowed to be here. Besides the hat part of ILLEGAL immigrants is so ambiguous?

Now you’re just generalizing. Having a warrant out, missing a court date, connecting you to illegal immigration status…..being arrested for any of those things still requires due process.

My drivers license my passport my military id? They have green cards/ permission to reside that they are required to carry on them at all times. If I go to another country, for example Thailand, I MUST have my passport on me at all times or I can be detained and guess what they don’t need a warrant

It doesn’t matter. If illegal immigrants don’t get due process, then there’s not much stopping a cop from calling you one and deciding they don’t believe any of your identification is real.

That is part of it. The Government must give people a chance to defend themselves in a fair hearing before infringing on their rights.

Anonymous replying to -> OP 1d

They must give citizens and people with legal status a chance to hear. The government is not infringing of rights of people who are not supposed to be here by sending them back to their country of origin. If they did that to people with legal status that would be a different argument.

In an ideal world I would agree with you. But courts hearings are very costly and there’s such a back up in hearing dates some asylum hearings are 1+ years out. You can blame that partially on the low number of judges we have. But we have also opened our borders to everyone and their mom. We live in a world of states and borders and its important to respect and maintain borders until we can find a better system

Due process is how they figure out if they’re an illegal immigrant or not. It ensures authorities aren’t acting without proper legal justification. Without it, they can just call anyone an illegal immigrant and kidnap anyone that looks too “foreign.” I don’t know how this isn’t making sense to you. Your notion that due process is reserved for citizens only is not only made up but rooted in prejudice.
