We don’t need to bring back bullying but we do need to go back to calling people out for saying odd shit in the moment

Well that’s still a form of bullying, so yeah let’s bring it back.

Nah nah there’s a difference between “that’s a weird thing to say” and “hey everybody it’s the weird kid!”

And I feel both of those phrases are appropriate.

Nah calling someone out in the moment is appropriate but announcing to randoms is overreacting. To be frank the person is gonna get the weird label without a bully spreading it around so it’s unnecessary and weird in itself to broadcast it.

Well what if you are announcing to that person, “hey do you know you are weird”. Is that bullying or calling someone out. Unfortunately because we stopped bullying people started being weirder and dumber.

That’s calling a person out, unless there is malicious intent then it becomes bullying.

Some would say it’s audience that matters not what’s being said, cause if I call you weird to the side not in front of people that’s calling you out but if I call you weird or call out what you said was weird in front of the crowd then that could be bullying but like I said I don’t see anything wrong with either.

It’s hard to explain since there’s a bit of a gray area between the two but it’s really just about intent. Bullying implies the intent is to humiliate and/or insult the victim for their shortcomings, real or imagined, in order to make the bully feel better about themselves. Calling out, however, is about telling a person how it is simply because.

There’s a pretty big difference between calling someone out and blatantly bullying. Saying “hey do you know you are weird” only depends on the context. If someone were simply talking about their hobbies and you make that statement, yes it’s rude and could be considered bullying but if someone makes let’s say a racist or rude remark, it’s more so calling someone out and pushes for that person to take accountability

Isn’t bullying specifically a repeated action? Like it has to be ongoing or at least more than once otherwise it can be just rude without being bullying.
