Parents should make their kids (early teens and older) do their own paperwork at the doctors. Bc the amount of adults I see that dont know how to fill out the forms is insane

12-13 they should be somewhat involved with the paperwork, being present while it’s being filled out to see what goes where 14-15 they should be the one filling it out with the parent nearby to help to make sure everything is correct 16-17 they should be fully filling out the forms themselves, potentially going alone if parent consent isn’t needed for anything

My doctor had me fill out my own paperwork at 16 bc it was specifically for personal teenage puberty and sexual confidentiality reasons. Ever since then I’ve filled out my own paperwork everywhere

Yes exactly!! I work at an eye doctor and the amount of times I see teens/young adults have no idea Whats going on is insane. I had a 17 year old just give me a blank stare and looked to their parent every time I asked a question. They need to learn to be more independent!!
