that usually is required for ppl on the registered sex offender list. you can easily look that type of info up online now but it wasnt always so accessible. the person is suposed to do it in person also though so that you have a valid reference for what they actually look like in person and what their demeanor is. some people might be on it bc they didnt break up with their hs girlfriend one grade below when they left for college, and those ppl wont be crazy creepy-but the charges are public 2
