genuinely need advice on breaking the binge cycle. my family are athletes and all of my roommates eat like toddlers (probably food issues of their own.) I feel so much shame around them and I don’t want to keep doing this

I struggled with binging and restricting all summer. The one thing that I did that changed it was journaling after I ate recording any feelings I had to binge. It sounds silly, but binge eating can be a deep rooted psychological issue you can’t just white knuckle your way through. When you journal make sure you’re encouraging to yourself and positive that you will succeed. You’ll fail, but it’s okay you just have to give yourself grace.

Stop dieting. You will eat a lot for a couple weeks then go back to normal. Also immerse yourself in hobbies and connect with people. Also if you smoke weed/drink then stop.

agreed, also op make sure you’re not restricting yourself from eating too much bcs that’s what usually causes it. And check if you’re deficient in anything and get tested before things that could cause this. I was a binge eater for months until I found out I had hypothyroidism.
