congrats! i’d recommend finding pair of barefoot/minimal running shoes. i’ve been running for 8 years now with no injuries. it’ll be hard at first (it already is) while u build strength in ur foot/ankle but u can cause a lot more damage running in Nike junk. take it slow and aim for a goal of 20 minutes running each day rather than a distance per day!

BE CAREFUL AND BUILD MUSCLE ALONGSIDE THIS I blew out my hip doing this in June. Haven’t run since like middle school. Started running again, about week straight bout a mile a day, then ab a month of 2mi/day, one day, hip hurt, didn’t care, ran anyway, next day, woke up- couldn’t walk. Limped for a month and couldn’t run. Added some weightlifting + increased protein & it healed up. Just be careful, don’t do too much & STRETCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I have those same black new balances. They are so bad to run in from my own experience. Consider getting running shoes.

Also you’re amazing congratulations for this , I haven’t ran in awhile because of stress/school, but picked up swimming (did that in hs) again so that makes me happy, let running make you happy <3 do it for you

Do NOT listen to this advice, barefoot running is stupid and will increase injury risks and ruin your form. Get good trainers instead and focus on form and slow progressive overload for weekly mileage if thats what youre aiming for
