Used to be a personal trainer, I’m not sure why this works, the science of it, I just know it works better for girls putting on muscle: If your protein is more like your ancestors ate, it tends to work better. Knew a German personal trainer, she was having trouble putting on muscle eating a bunch of fish. I asked her how much fish Germans ate in the region she hailed from… Not much. Switched to beef, gained the muscle she was seeking.

Isn’t that because beef naturally has creatine and usually a bit more protein?

That sounds right, but I think the principal is similar to the idea of the opposite of “Asian flush” when drinking alcohol. Each of us has enzymes based on wherever our families hail from to digest similar proteins better based on region, like that of our ancestors.
