i feel hopeless when it comes to losing weight. with hormone issues and medications all against me it feels impossible. it’s always “just stay in a calorie deficit” but i’m practically starving myself and no change. i just have no energy and low sugar now

for context i’m 5’6” and at least 250. i’m super bulky so i’ve always been over the average weight, even as a kid (doctor considered me obese even when i had a flat stomach). i’ve hated my body pretty much my entire life. my ex was ashamed of me and my weight. i’m just so tired of being fat and ugly

Full blown fasting, I’ve found, does wonders for hormone reset.

It takes time. When you first start, you may not see changes for weeks. I just put your information through a TDEE calculator (5’6, 250 lbs, assuming you’re 19) and 2311 cals is how much you should be eating to maintain your physique. To lose weight, you need to eat about 1811 calories which is doable. My favorite is Fage 0% greek yogurt with berries and honey for breakfast and it clocks about 250 calories with 25g of protein. You can keep this stuff in your mini fridge if you have one.

friends and my closest family say i’m fine and it doesn’t define me but in a world that hates fat people it just makes me so tired

Increase your activity level and decrease your caloric deficit slightly. Aim to lose 0.5 lbs each week if you need a general outline to follow. If you struggle with exercise the incline treadmill can be a great way without feeling exhausted. Daily consistency will always beat novelty.

i used to use the incline treadmill here at my university before i got too busy to find the time to do it. maybe i’ll try to get in there a few times a week

Just take walks after your meals and make an effort to walk more in general and you’ll be fine

I can’t do 3 meals a day so I like to delay my breakfast until 12-1pm and then have 2 meals a day with a protein shake if I need it. You’re going to be hungry but make sure you’re not confusing hunger with thirst

Walking at least 10k steps a day dropped my weight so much. If you can’t do that 1-2 days during the weekday, try making it up on the weekend by clocking 15-20k steps. I like going urban hiking just for fun and picking a coffee shop to study at
