For anyone who has built up a really strong barbell squat - how hard do you push yourself, in terms of RIR/RPE? I’ve been spinning my wheels for months, and I fear it might be because I’m grinding too much and going to actual failure too often on them.
For true strength 0-2 rir is normal especially for sub 5 rep sets. Rpe probs 8ish for that last rep

Do half squats w higher weight. Also doing stress loads to train ur legs to support ur weight is a good idea.

Oh and how often do u bb squat?

AnonymousOP4w
Stress loads are where u load the bar w a weight higher than ur max and stand w it for 8-10 secs. It trains ur legs to be comfortable supporting that weight.

I use to bb squat 3 times a week and had a max of 655 for 2

I see….were/are either of you doing a lot of other lower body lifts when you squat a lot, or do you keep it limited elsewhere?

Cleans and snatches mostly

Cleans and snatch’s are a really good way to build explosive power. You can also do single leg workouts. Doing single leg workouts are another way to increase power.
