unfortunately this is the only way…i hear abt it from my sister but if you want actual tips you should cut not on a flat number but on a % of bw. for example, if im 155 cutting 1 lb a week and you’re 115 cutting 1 lb a week that will look very different. the equivalent in terms of net effect on your look would be closer to .75 lbs a week if that makes sense, (1lb might be too steep). in terms of macros: for girls .5g fat/lb, for guys .3. protein .7-1g/lb, for leaner more carbs rest of cals
A tip I can give is increasing activity is usually better than decreasing calories. When u decrease calories ur gonna have less energy and worse gym performance, it’ll be harder to hit ur macros, you’ll probably have some nutrient deficiencies, and you run the risk of crashing your hormones. Instead of going from for example 1500 -> 1200 calories a day, try adding another 5-6k steps or something
my maintenance is like 2000-2100 and i’m 133. i only did 1200-1300 calories for about four months. i got pretty slim cuz i was also running almost daily but i saw zero gains😭 and my sleep was horrible. i’ve had to build my tdee back up so i can eat more and now i’m finally seeing more muscle growth
well yeah but i also do think you should care about overall leanness but to an extent. i think the lowest sustainable number is optimal. keyword is sustainable so somewhere you actually feel good at and eating at maintenance and maybe +50-100 is good. i think other commenter moreso meant that caring about weight numbers is stupid which i also agree with. he was mainly criticizing the idea of goal weight esp when it comes to bulking
how tall are you? make sure you’re chasing the right thing. some people chase scale weight but you should prioritize leanness which isn’t the same thing, which is why cutting while being able to preserve muscle mass and or make gains should be your #1 priority. aesthetics for both men and women are about leanness for the most part. scale weight only matters close to the extremes if that makes sense (too light too or too heavy)
