I lost so much weight since i became broke im down almost 40 lbs. any tips on how to gain that fast(like 4-5 months) without becoming a whale

Whole Foods and high in protein, good carbs like bananas, and high fats like avocado , oats , rice , protein shakes

You cannot gain 40lbs over 5 months and not expect most of it to be fat. Maybe 4-12lbs of actual muscle, but this depends on how consistent you are and how advanced of a lifter you were.

I mean to look crazy fat, im chill with a puffy look bc id do anything to not be this skinny again but i j dont wanna be obese

You can gain muscle on a calorie deficit, it is just considerably more difficult to accomplish. If you were to do a body recomp and get to around 12-15% bf, and then try a lean bulk, you would have better results.
