Hi guys, I'm looking for any advice/tips you can give me on gaining weight. I'm a 25M 130-135lbs 5'9 who has struggled to gain weight for a long time plus fighting genetics in some part of it. My goal is to get to like 170lbs I feel that would be ideal

I don’t want to sound rude at all but at 130lbs, you should be gaining weight if you eat 3k calories… but that’s also a low amount of calories to be gaining off of (using old school math 3500 calories is 1lbs of fat) so you are gaining at most 1 lbs a week. You either need to increase caloric intake or monitor what you eat more tightly. Often eating clean makes it hard to gain so you may want to loosen up on your diet slightly, to a degree you want to choose the higher calorie option, in reason

I've been tracking my calories and macros and try to hit 3k at least with macros kinda fluctuating on a day to day basis. I typically eat about 3-4 meals and a few snacks at night. I do have dumbbells at home and was looking at maybe doing some at home workouts.

You may not be hitting that 3k calorie goal, a lot of time people who struggle to put on weight struggle because they don’t full grasp how much they need to eat. I have a friend who thought he was eating 4k calories a day when he was barely clearing 2500. Try to track closely for a week and make sure you are at that 3k mark and if you aren’t gaining quick enough (in your opinion) increase to 3.5k.

I mean I'm tracking closely as best I know how. Also, I typically shoot for 3k and try to go over just in case I might be missing. I will say it's not all food calories as well. Yeah, 4k seems crazy. I've hit 3,500 a few times but not consistently.

Gotcha. If you believe you are consistently hitting that 3k mark and you haven’t gained the weight you were looking for over a 2-3 week time frame, then yes bump those calories up. 3500 is hard to hit at first but trust me you can get use to it (it gets really hard when you try and keep it clean 😭)

Yeah I'm just really bad at coming up with ideas of what to eat. I mean 3500 shouldn't be too bad just got to throw in something extra or somehow make my meals more high caloric intake. I would say the only thing clean would be maybe breakfast and lunch. Dinner is kinda up in the air and my snacks are somewhat unhealthy for the most part.
