I think protein is great and all but isn’t it weird how much it’s being oversold. Like there’s no need for protein soda and protein cereal. I even saw a high protein apple pie around Thanksgiving. Like just eat 3 meals a day with a protein source

I could sound kinda insensitive bc everyone has different goals but the consumerism really pisses me off and i think they’re just taking advantage of fitness trends

It the new fat. It was first fat free stuff in the early 2000’s, keto, than gluten free.

yea it’s cuz of the rising trend of fitness influencers, the age of ozempic/ peptides/reta,etc, the male lookmaxing and “ascending” niche group e.g clavicular, and how being fit is now almost like a luxury that only the rich, successful individuals have. So protein is branded everywhere and on anything despite the heavily processed shit they use and it’s def not healthy. But people will buy it regardless under the delusion that they are being “healthy” and in their fantasies. It’s cope

Just a Feel Good Marketing Scam for people who wanna feel better about themselves by buying “healthy”. Shit will have 10g P for 3-5$ per serving. Wild. The cheapest protein sources per calorie per dollar are dairy and lean meat or Seitan/Tofu if vegan. Protein Bars and pre-made shakes are reasonably priced for what they offer everything else is a waste of fucking money.

And a lot of these protein supplements are made with collagen protein which actually doesn’t aid in muscle building or recovery and most get peed out.

The result from the cultural shift that started this protein hysteria and the oversimplification of it. People are treating protein like holy grail while neglecting the other important macronutrients and how our bodies are extremely nuanced and forgetting the very basic concept of food. Food is fuel. Each one of our bodies are ambiguous and focusing on one macronutrient starts to displace the rest of what makes a balanced diet .. balanced.
