If your goal is to lose weight then your diet is the first place to start. Burning 100 calories is a lot harder than not eating 100 calories. That being said, going to the gym is a great choice and will only help you in your goal. But the gym alone will not get you fit, you have to have your diet on point first.

as someone who’s recently started going i would recommend starting with cardio and maybe watch some videos online on how to do weights and learn and improve from there. i could not recommend the gym enough i’ve genuinely been happier since i’ve gone

I’d suggest going for 30-60 minute walks each day. You don’t have to overdo anything. Start slow. Just get your body moving and stay consistent. Focus on building good habits. Remember that 3 weeks of doing the same thing builds routine. 3 months of doing the same thing builds a habit. If you’re going on daily walks for 3 months, you’ll start seeing real results AND you’ll have achieved the most valuable lesson of getting fit which is consistency. I know it sounds lame but it’s the real key.
