There’s a saying that goes along the lines of you don’t need to be a cook to know when food is burnt. Having said that the gym is one place where theory is not held in the same light as having proof. It’s more like the early days of exploration, you want people to know you’re way work. Then prove it with your body
That’s valid, but there’s some base level stuff that is just infuriating to hear. Like, you’ll literally say some shit like “the lats don’t have good leverage past 120 degrees of overhead arm abduction” which is just a fact that you can find in any textbook, and a meathead will always tell you that you’re wrong.
Let me put it this way. I have never played basketball a day in my life. If I said “a field goal inside the big lines is worth 2 points” and then Lebron came up and said “no he’s wrong, it’s worth 5 points actually” would you go “oh well Lebron plays basketball so he’s right” or would you use an ounce of critical thinking?
I understand your frustration but all I can tell you is be the change you want to see. Also the activity usually attracts people who are not the brightest. The good thing is that’s the vocal minority. If they pull the “you’re not the Ronnie Coleman” line and they are smaller than you, then they might have been dribbled as a child and just ignore them. They’re more people like you and they are probably also looking for like minded people
