Anecdotal evidence doesn’t overrule facts no matter how much ur own experience taught u man. And no im not a science based lifter but I recognize that facts are facts and data overrules ur own experience. Now if something works for u by all means keep doing it thats why im not a science based lifter I actually like having fun when i lift lol
Gaining muscle without fat is a slow and awful grind and is wayyyyy slower than just doing a real bulk. Gaining weight and muscle is as simple as calories in, the burning the excess calories when you hit your target weight. I’m looking to gain up to 240 lbs this year and then maybe cut a little. I’d never hit 240 if I ate 250 calories above my maintenance
For sure but you’d probably never get up to 240 in the first place without having a decent amount of fat on ur frame unless ur cycling. So in the end after u cut ur just gonna end up at the same spot as if u lean bulked ur way there but having to go through the pain of a cut instead of just staying lean the entire time. Bulking and cutting also reduces the total time ur in a surplus compared to just lean bulking meaning less actual time to grow muscle and more time spent in a deficit
