I got super depressed after my ex dumped me and haven’t been to the gym in 4 months until today. I’ve lost so much strength and it really sucks to have to build back up

I’m was in the same boat but I hadn’t been back for over a year. I let myself get used to it and I spent so much time worrying about how hard it was gonna be to grind back up, when I could’ve spent that time doing something about it instead of thinking on it. But everyone is right, the muscle memory stays there and it’s not as hard as your first time

It’s really not I did really bad 2025 I barely worked out and when I got back I tried to get as close to my prs as I could and I was like 85% there in most of my lifts I effectively just lost 15% strength after procrastinating the whole year
